Candid Conversations with Dr Kate Cornick

Victoria is now home to more than 4,300 startups – technology-driven companies that use innovative business models and technology to grow quickly and service global markets - and the enterprise value of Victoria’s entire startup ecosystem (including startups, scaleups and unicorns) is now $134.3 billion. Research shows employment in the sector is growing much faster than the broader economy with average headcount growth of 12.9% compared with 2.5% across Victoria. The ecosystem is becoming more diverse: 45% of start ups now have a woman founder, and 39% have at least one culturally diverse founder.
Dr Kate Cornick is the CEO of The Tech Council of Australia, and previously spent a decade as the CEO of Victorian Government startup agency LaunchVic.
