On 4 February a full house gathered for the launch of the Melbourne Forum 2026 Program. Members and guests enjoyed a fascinating conversation with the Directors of two of our world-renowned medical research institutes: Professor Sharon Lewin from the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity and Professor Ken Smith from WEHI (Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research).
The conversation explored Melbourne’s rise as a global hub for biomedical research, and highlighted some of the groundbreaking research being conducted by the two institutes. It was evident that a culture of collaboration across our numerous medical research institutes has played a pivotal role in establishing Melbourne as a dominant force in this field.
