Social Cohesion vs Artistic Freedom was the focus of a mini-colloquium for Melbourne Forum members and guests recently. Our conversation was led masterfully by acclaimed ethicist, writer and public intellectual Dr Leslie Cannold, Associate Professor of Ethics and Practice/Resident Ethicist at Cranlana Centre for Ethical Leadership based at Monash University. It was a very stimulating and thought-provoking session where Leslie shared her own views and asked for input. Our members and guests entered into a great combination of sharing, self-reflection and spirited and respectful debate. We each left with significant insights and with the message that we should ‘hold strong opinions lightly’.
