Important Updates about Membership
22nd January 2025
By Dr Marianne Broadbent, Melbourne Forum Chair
As January draws to a close, many of us are finalising our priorities and schedules for 2025. We already have a wonderful program lined up for February and March 2025, so now's the time to book your events. Thanks to the hard work of our Program Committee and Executive Officer, Simone Goodwin, we’re bringing you a series of expert-led discussions on diverse and compelling topics.
Join us to explore subjects like transforming the housing sector, the promise of nuclear fusion, the 4B Movement, the growth and impact of The Conversation, sustaining The Age newspaper, boosting competitiveness in the transport sector, and insights from the Chair of the ABC. There’s truly something for everyone - so book into as many events as you can! And don’t forget to invite a friend or colleague to join the conversation.
A couple of important updates to note:
- Our enhanced (and faster!) website is nearly ready. Look out for updates in early February as we transition to the new platform. This upgrade will provide better insights into what matters most to our members and offer improved functionality to enhance your member experience.
- The Board resolved to increase the annual membership fee from $540 (+GST) to $590 (+GST) effective 1 January 2025, the first increase since 2020. Whilst we maintain a lean budget, we also face rising operating costs, and have needed to draw on reserves to progress developments such as the new website.
We can’t wait to welcome you to our February and March events for insightful discussions and engaging debates. Stay tuned for more events in April and beyond. As always, we value your suggestions for future topics and speakers - let us know your ideas!
