Open Door Series - A return to WEHI
Open Door Series
Hosted by Professor Vin Massaro & Weston Lewis
Through our Open Door Series in 2026 we are pleased to host this private tour of WEHI with Professor Ken Smith.
We first visited WEHI via Open Door in 2024. It was a popular event and there is renewed interest following the recent stimulating discussions with WEHI Director Professor Ken Smith at a recent Members Drinks event. Ken will give an overview of WEHI, and we then will break into smaller groups for the tour, so please allow 1 hour 30 mins for the visit.
WEHI is an extremely significant and prestigious institution in Parkville. Previously known as the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, it is Australia's oldest medical research institute dedicated to understanding, preventing, and treating diseases like cancer, infections and immune disorders. For over 100 years it has brought the world’s brightest scientists together to help solve some of the world’s most complex health issues, collaborating with hospitals, universities, research institutes, supporters, alumni and the community.
Millions of people around the world are living healthier lives because of WEHI’s medical discoveries.
For those interested, a booking has been made for dinner afterwards in the neighbourhood at Naughton's Hotel at members’ own expense.
This event is free. Numbers are capped - register early to ensure you do not miss out.
Don't miss this very special Open Door event, an opportunity to go behind the scenes at one of the world's most significant - and Australia's oldest - medical research institutes.
