Ms Allan was elected to Parliament in 1999 and is the second female Premier in the State’s history, the longest-serving female Minister in Australia’s history, and
Victoria’s longest-serving Labor Minister.

Throughout her career she has advocated strongly for Government investment that delivers for all Victorians, by creating jobs and delivering better health, education and transport services for communities.

Ms Allan has held several Ministerial portfolios throughout her career including Minister for Transport and Infrastructure and the Suburban Rail Loop, Public Transport, Major Projects, Regional and Rural Development and Industry and Trade. The Allan Labor Government is strengthening its focus on building the homes Victorians need into the future with a bold target of 800,000 new homes over the next decade. Central to this, is unlocking the potential of infrastructure projects to transform communities, promote business investment, create jobs and deliver more housing as Victoria continues to grow.

Prior to becoming Premier, Ms Allan oversaw the delivery of the largest investment in transport projects in Victoria’s history, including the removal of 110 of Melbourne’s most dangerous and congested level crossings, delivery of the Suburban Rail Loop, the construction of the Metro Tunnel, West Gate Tunnel, North East Link and the Regional Rail Revival package, which is making improvements to every passenger line on the regional network.
