The Conversation Media Group is an independent, non-profit media organisation that aims to democratise knowledge by publishing evidence-based news and analysis authored by academics and researchers. It bridges the gap between academia and the public by ensuring the knowledge created in universities has a broader societal impact.

We are delighted to have the leadership team of The Conversation share the ongoing challenges and successes and how they ensure ‘balance’ in an era of ‘alternative facts’ and polarisation.  The Conversation began in Melbourne in 2011 and now operates in eight other countries with an average monthly global readership of 43 million page views including republication.

The Conversation has become a trusted source for knowledge-driven journalism, appealing to readers who value rigor, clarity, and evidence over sensationalism. So, join us for what will be an enlightening and inspiring conversation.

Lisa Watts is Chief Executive Officer of The Conversation Media Group and is responsible for funding and operations, and the Technology and Product teams who serve the international group. Previously Lisa was CEO of ArtsHub, CEO of a search marketing firm, and GM online employment for Fairfax Digital. Lisa has been a Director of Vertical Networks Group and Chair of Midsumma Festival. Lisa is a Deloitte Outstanding 50 LGBTI Leader.

Misha Ketchell is the Editor of The Conversation Australia and New Zealand. He has been an editor and journalist for more than 25 years. He was the founding editor of The Big Issue Australia and editor of Crikey, The Reader and The Melbourne Weekly. He was also a reporter and feature writer at The Age and also worked at the ABC where he was a TV producer on Media Watch and The 7:30 Report and an editor on The Drum.
