14th March 2018
- Members' Lunch with Chris Barlow, Non Executive Director of the ARTC (Australian Rail Track Corporation)
The 1700 km long Inland Rail freight line will link Melbourne to Brisbane without diverting through Sydney, will cut the travel time by 10 hours and for the first time will allow containers to be double stacked. The East Coast rail freight product will at last match the product to the West Coast.
This conversation will look at why Australia needs this project and the challenges of delivering this major new Australian railroad, the first for 100 years.
Chris' journey has taken him from his early days in ports, tunnels and airports in the UK to Australian airports, ports and trains leading me to the exciting massive Inland Rail Construction.
His other board appointments include, Chairman of Darwin and Alice Springs airports and Melbourne Convention Bureau as well as a Non-Executive Director of Visit Victoria. He was also a non-executive director of Asciano before it was sold in 2016.
