- Members' Lunch with Dr David Halpern
Chief Executive, Behavioural Insights Team
VicHealth’s Leading Thinker
If you connect international thought leaders with senior policy-makers and renowned local experts and ask them to solve complex health problems, the result is the Leading Thinkers Initiative on Behavioural Insights.
In 2014, VicHealth instigated this program and at a Melbourne Forum lunch in September 2014, Dr Halpern presented his vision for Behavioural Insights and VicHealth. Now, 18 months later, he is returning to inform us about the outcomes and discuss a number of initiatives including Victoria’s Citizens' Jury on Obesity.
David Halpern is the Chief Executive of the UK based Behavioural Insights Team and Board Director. He has led the team since its inception in 2010. Prior to that, David was the founding Director of the Institute for Government and between 2001 and 2007 was the Chief Analyst at the UK Prime Minister’s Strategy Unit. Before entering government, David held tenure at Cambridge and posts at Oxford and Harvard. He has written several books and papers on areas relating to behavioural insights and wellbeing, including Social Capital (2005), the Hidden Wealth of Nations (2010), and co-author of the MINDSPACE report. David has recently written a book about the team entitled Inside the Nudge Unit: How Small Changes Can Make a Big Difference.
Dr Halpern's lunch in 2014, hosted by the CEO of VicHealth, Jerril Rechter, was the very first lunch that SOLD OUT within a day, leaving many members disappointed. Don't let this happen to you, book now.
