Hannie Rayson talks about what's involved in trawling memories and taking stock of a life. This is her story in 43 parts.
Hannie is a playwright and screenwriter. She is the author of 14 plays,including Hotel Sorrento, Inheritance and Life After George. Her plays have been performed around Australia and internationally.
She has been awarded two Australian Writers’ Guild Awards, four Helpmann Awards, two NSW Premier’s Literary Awards and a Victorian Premier’s Literary Award. Her play Life After George was the first play to be nominated for the Miles Franklin Literary Award.
This year Hannie published a memoir, Hello, Beautiful! with Text Publishing. And next year she is going on tour with her one-woman show based on the book.
She is currently working on a commission from the Melbourne Theatre Company and the Manhattan Theatre Club in New York, and writes a monthly column for The Age on Saturdays.
