Investigating serious corruption in the states public service

Dinner with Stephen OBryan QC

16th October 2017

- Members' Dinner with Stephen O'Bryan QC, Commissioner, Independent Broad-based Anti-Corruption Commission, IBAC
Exposing and preventing public sector corruption and police misconduct in Victoria.

Victoria’s independent anti-corruption commission, IBAC, now in its fifth year of operation, has built and demonstrated a strong capacity to expose and prevent public sector corruption and police misconduct in Victoria.

Stephen O’Bryan is the first Commissioner for IBAC, he is an independent officer of the Parliament and is responsible for the strategic leadership of IBAC.

He has extensive experience in the fields of administrative, commercial and regulatory law, has appeared in Royal Commissions, boards of inquiry and coronial inquests as well as various investigations and proceedings commenced by the ACCC and ASIC.  His experience includes matters involving the Victoria and Federal Police, the Office of Public Prosecutions and many Victorian government agencies, including local government.

Stephen is nearing the end of his 5 year non-renewable term and will be joining us for dinner on Monday 16th October to reflect on his experiences as Victoria`s "start up" anti-corruption agency under the Chatham House rule.
